In the quiet, authentic settlement Oqaatsut you will find Restaurant H8 Explorer. Here you can enjoy a fantastic meal, prepared with respect for the Greenlandic food and moderne cuisine.
Enjoy lunch or dinner in listed buildings, that were build in 1894 as warehouse for Royal Danish Trade.
The restaurant is located with spectacular view of the bay sorrounding Oqaatsut. Here you will experience a different part of Greenland, compared to the larger cities. In Oqaatsut you get even closer to nature, and you will quickly feel this unique feeling of calmness. It is the perfect get-away place!
We offer different excursions to Oqaatsut, that all combines an activity in the settlement and dinner or lunch in Restaurant H8 Explorer.
Try for instance our Oqaatsut Day or Evening, where you go by boat from Ilulissat to Oqaatsut and are greated by our hosts when you arrive in Oqaatsut. The hosts will introduce you to the settlement with a guided settlement walk before lunch or dinner in the restaurant.
For more adventurous guests we have our excursion Adventure Day in Oqaatsut, where you go on a kayaking tour in the bay by Oqaatsut with our guides before enjoying a wonderful lunch at Restaurant H8. Or our Full Day Hike to Settlement, where you hike 20 kilometres from Ilulissat to Oqaatsut, enjoys a packed lunch along the way and the excursion ends with a 3 course dinner in Restaurant H8 Explorer before the boat takes you back to Ilulissat.
During winter in March to mid April, Restaurant H8 is also open. Join our excursions that includes dinner or lunch at Restaurant H8 and either dog sledding over the frozen bay, snowshoe hiking in the snowcovered landscape, or icefishing on the sea ice.
